The least hard thing is creating characters that are just ideas/jokes, so extreme, surreal or flat that they're not even supposed to feel real.
The slightly harder thing is writing about people you actually know and things that have actually happened to you and turning that into decent literature.
The hardest thing is coming up with characters that feel complete, alive and real......
